Just posted some new leatherwork over on TUMBLR. These pieces will be at Dallas Fan Days this weekend.
knotwyrksleatherwyrks.tumblr.c…
So, I've not been posting a whole lot lately, but this time it's for a reason.

I've committed to taking the Magic Box course from the Oatley Academy (Google it! It's AWESOMETASTIC!!), and it's taking up a good chunk of my time. I'm still working on non-class work, but it's going much slower for a while as I spend time on my classes and re-examine my current paintings with lessons in mind. The first couple of lessons are so ridiculouly good I'm going to run through and do them again before I move on to the next one. Now I know why when I was review-stalking the course, that I would see a lot of people commenting on taking the course, but only mention the first few lessons. It's so easy to linger there in order to really pull every last bit of value out of the lessons.

I'm posting my works in progress and some of my classwork over on Tumblr knotwyrks.tumblr.com/

Having a great time! Wish you were here.

Nighty by MPFitzpatrick
Nighty

Nightcrawler fanart quickie for last night's sketch.

I did this little sketch as a wind-down after my homework last night. I wanted to use the lasso techniques from the “Oatley method” on a quick color sketch, and it worked remarkably well. I only used a brush for the highlighting strokes around the head. And I kind of wished I’d used the lasso/gradient combo for that as well. But the hubby wanted dinner, so this is it.

Sketched in pencil in sketchbook, took picture with my iPad (Because I am moving my studio spaces around and didn't feel like hooking up the scanner this week). Sketch cleanup and color done in Photoshop.

Nightcrawler’s copyright belongs to Marvel. I just wanted to play with him for a few minutes. He's just so pretty and fuzzy, and I wanted to do my own spin on the elf.

I've gone through and moved things around in my galleries to,hopefully, make everything look nicer and to made specific things easier to find. I separated out the leatherwork from the flat art, for example, and now the main "featured"  gallery only has the best work, and not every single uploaded piece. Those are now in their specific theme galleries. I also moved some of the embarrasingly old work into its own folder. Hopefully things look a bit less chaotic now.

I've started posting my work over in Tumblr, Sketches, WIPs, and general commentary on what's going on. knotwyrks.tumblr.com/ and at tknotwyrksleatherwyrks.tumblr.c… for my leather and crafts updates.

I've updated those links. I had the wrong ones up before.

Fortuna
That little piece of "bite sized art" got a little out of hand. I was not able to keep this one simple, but I like the way it turned out.
Digital in Manga Studio5.

I did indeed! I love crafts of all kinds but I especially like leathercraft and you have quite the knack for it. It's alright if your updates are somewhat few and far between; I can sympathize. My Tumblr isn't always that busy because I strive to keep it focused on worldbuilding and sketches, which I haven't been doing much due to a bit of creative dry spell.

I first found you on Elfwood and your artwork inspired me to begin working with color pencils and I am enjoying drawing even more now. Thank you for sharing your beautiful art.
